Singapore’s concerted efforts to enable an inclusive tech community and culture recognized by Great Place to Work®

Tech professionals prioritize diversity and making the world better in 2022.

As Singapore continues to pivot towards economic rebound and uncover growth opportunities, attracting and retaining tech talent has never been a more critical driver to the digital economy than in 2022.

A new survey by global technology consultancy , showed while traditional pull factors like compensation and opportunities for advancement still play an important role in attracting and retaining talent, an overwhelming majority of technologists today value having their opinions heard and considered (more than 90 percent), working in an inclusive workplace, and working in roles that enable tech to make the world a better place.

In Singapore, has long prioritized building a vibrant community and cultivating a diverse, inclusive culture where its people have the freedom to make an extraordinary impact on the world through technology. These concerted efforts have garnered Singapore recognition as one of the Top 10 Best Workplaces™ and one of the Top Five Best Workplaces™ in Technology 2021 by Great Place to Work®.

According to Great Place to Work, some of the positive respondent feedback for Singapore included:

  • 99 percent said management trusts people to do a good job without watching over their shoulders

  • 98 percent said Thoughtworkers are treated as a full member regardless of position

  • 97 percent said when you join the company you are made to feel welcome

  • 98 percent believed management would only lay people off as a last resort

Great Place to Work, the global authority on workplace culture, selected the lists using rigorous analytics and confidential employee feedback. Companies were only considered if they are a Great Place to Work-Certified™ organization. This year, close to 100 companies in Singapore are Great Place to Work-Certified™. Only companies who attain at least 65% on the Great Place to Work® Trust Index© Survey can attain the certification.
