ranked 40 in UK’s Best Workplaces™ (Large) list

UK has been recognized as one of the UK’s Best Workplaces™ (Large) 2022 today by Great Place to Work®, the global authority on workplace culture.

The company ranked 40 out of a shortlist of 67 workplaces in the ‘Large’ category (251-1,000 employees). It is the first time the company has made it onto the main Great Place to Work list, and builds on several awards in the recent years including making the shortlist for the UK’s Best Workplaces for Wellbeing 2022, the UK’s Best Workplaces for Women 2021, and the UK’s Best Workplaces in Tech 2021. In 2021 UK became a certified Great Place To Work company.

The news comes as UK looks to recruit around 150 tech professionals in the North East over the next two years, following the launch of its new site in Newcastle. The Newcastle office is the third office in the UK, working alongside offices in Manchester and London.

Patrick B. Sarnacke, managing director of UK said: “Our employees are our most important asset as a business and their happiness and development is our top priority. It is a huge honor to have made it onto the Great Places To Work list for the first time, and builds on some considerable success that we have had in recent years, however our work does not stop here. It is clear from this recognition that we are doing some things right, however our approach of measuring, monitoring and evaluating areas that we can improve, and gradually introducing small, achievable steps is our strategy for making colleagues feel valued, happy and supported, and able to realize their potential at work.”

“Even in times of agonizing uncertainty, at Best Workplaces™ the shared mantra of ‘purpose over profit’ has stood firm,” said Benedict Gautrey, managing director of Great Place to Work® UK. “We’re incredibly proud to recognize the 290 companies on our list for their outstanding workplace cultures, and unwavering commitment to supporting employees so they can deliver the best strategic solutions to ever-changing business opportunities and challenges.”

The employee view

A great workplace is more than lavish perks, fancy parties and incredible benefits. While those elements are present in many Best Workplace™ organizations, at its core a great workplace is about the level of trust that employees experience in their leaders, the level of pride they have in their jobs; and the extent to which they experience camaraderie with their colleagues.

To determine the 2022 UK's Best Workplaces™ list, Great Place to Work® performed rigorous evaluations of hundreds of employee survey responses alongside Culture Audit™ submissions from leaders at each company. They then used these data insights to benchmark the effectiveness of companies' employee value propositions against the culture their employees actually experience.

Those businesses who achieve the highest scores after evaluation receive Best Workplaces™ status.
